Working with architect Squire and Partners and main contractor Kajima Construction, Chelsea Artisans designed and installed Diamond Ultralite stone cladding to the lift atrium area.

The cladding had to be fixed to an existing wall on part of a listed building. The wall could not take the loading of traditional limestone which would have had to be up to 75mm thick to comply with the relevant British Standard. Using a proprietary aluminium support framework Diamond Ultralite panels were installed to the 25m high x 16m wide wall in panel sizes up to 2.20m x 1.10m. The cladding incorporated forming reveals for windows and arched viewing balconies. Diamond Ultralite offered a solution that was only one tenth the weight of traditional limestone and even the largest panels only required localised mechanical hoisting.
